I Am a Photographer
I am a photographer. Being a photographer affects my life, my friends, my family, and who I portray myself as
to the world. Photography has not only brought me closer to those around me, but has also made me look at the world in a whole new set of eyes. I've made new friends and have found things within the friends I already had that I had never known before. I bond with others through photography, learning from their perspectives and showing some of my own.
My concept of art has truly grown and refined so much over time. I initially thought art could only
be something on a canvas, but it can be so much more. Photography is my form of art. So much can be expressed in just a single photograph, a frozen fragment of time. It captures past experiences and allows me to look back and feel the emotions I felt back then.
Before photography, I never really had a way to express myself in my own style or even just an enjoyable hobby
in general. But now one of my favorite things to do is take photos. I don't ever feel judged, because I'm in control of what I capture. I've never been very successful at visual art (my sister's talent), so photography became the escape for me. I could illustrate not only my emotions, but stories, with a click on my camera. Photography has made me more independent and confident in myself and my abilities. It's created new and exciting opportunities for my future and has helped me realize how important art is to me.
