I Am Unlike Anyone Else

If I have learned one thing growing up, it's that I should live my life as creatively as I can. It's my life

and I do only get one. So I choose to live it by expressing myself through art, whether it be through the clothes I wear, the song I write, behind the curtains, or when I'm on stage.

When I was younger I knew that I was different from other boys. While they were all playing outside, I was

watching movies, playing with my sister's Barbies, putting on shows for my family, or singing songs around the house. I knew right away from a young age that I was going to pursue theatre, because entertaining others is something I have always enjoyed. In the third grade, my middle school put on a production of the play The Little Prince. That's what started it all for me, learning that acting wasn't just for girls. After seeing the show I remember immediately asking the drama teacher if I could join. I wasn't old enough, but that didn't stop me. In the sixth grade I joined the drama club and was in my first production, Xanadu. Everything about it was mesmerizing. The songs, the costumes, and getting to entertain not only myself but also every single person in the audience.

Now that I'm in an arts high school and learning that there's much more to theatre than just acting, I get to

expand my knowledge on something that I love. I use theatre as an outlet for my day-to-day life, not only to bring a smile to my face, but to others as well. I'm forever grateful that I was lucky enough to know what I wanted to pursue early on, and that I have a family who supports me.

Being an artist as allowed me to expand my horizons and learn life lessons that I know will stick with me. It

gave me moments that define who I am. Without art, without theatre, I don't know who I would be. But I do know that because of them I'm the best version of myself that I could possibly be.
